Thermo-Press® Interior Storm Windows are custom designed
to fit any size or shape window
opening. They are virtually invisible once installed, to preserve
the architectural integrity of the building. This is done by painting
or staining the narrow PVC frame to match your trim color. The
window then presses easily into place using our patented Velcro®
system.

Electrical Testing Laboratories Report No.. 443276 |
Results from the Condensation Resistance Performance Test shows that where a Thermo-Press panel is applied to a single glazed window, the CRF is more than tripled. From the Thermal Transmittance testing, we can calculate the 'U-Value' or unit for measuring conductive heat loss {Thermal transmittance due to conduction plus one-half Thermal Transmittance due to infiltration}. The "U-Value' of a single glazed primary window is 1.1 1. This means that you lose I. 11 BTU's for every square foot of window, every hour that the inside temperature is one degree F. different than the outside air. Thermo-Press® windows have been designed to drop this heat loss to only .455 BTU per square foot per hour per degree difference. It's easy to see how we increase your efficiency by 60%, and considerably improve home comfort. |
a. ACRYLIC. .125 (l/8' thick}. This material is known for its
fine clarity, and its non-yellowing, distortion-free tendencies.
In fact, our acrylic has shown itself to be as transparent as
the finest optical glass, weighs half as much, and has 17 times
the impact resistance! Thermo-Press* Windows are available in
clear as well as tinted and ultra-violet filtering acrylics.
b. PVC FRAME. Our frames are multi-durometer Poly-Vinyl Chloride.
This PVC extruded frame attaches permanently to the acrylic used.
Thermo-Press frames are white, but can be Painted or stained to
match your existing window trim.
c. JOINTS. All frames are constructed with mitred joints. Such
precision of construction is not only functionally imperative, but
certainly lends to the beauty that these windows convey.
d. INTER-GASKET. Providing extra insulation and air-tight construction
is a flexible vinyl gasket, much the same as you find on your
refrigerator door. This gasket, on the inside of the PVC frame
is the key to virtually eliminating air infiltration. To insure
a proper working relationship between the PVC frame and our intergasket,
they are extruded as one component.
e. BULB GASKET. We have insured the gasket seal all around
by having a separate vinyl tubular gasket which is utilized to
"snug up" the panel when it rests on a window sill.
f. HOOK VELCRO®. A continuous 1/2" hook velcro
strip is mechanically stapled to the window trim or an added subframe
to insure a secure and durable closure. The hook is available
in colors to enhance the product's attractiveness.
g. LOOP VELCRO®. A 1/2" loop velero strip is chemically bonded to the PVC frame and attaches to a 1/2' hook velcro strip.
h. QUALITY OF VELCRO®. Velcro is a durable woven nylon hook
and loop fastening tape with a minimum life of 10,000 openings
and closings. Velcro tapes are manufactured by a weaving process
considered to be one of the most precise and refined in the entire
textile industry.

The Thermo-Press Storm Interior Window can be mounted to your existing trim or a wood subframe. The panel has a frame width of 7/8". In order to mount to your existing trim you must have at least 1" of flat trim. This will ensure the gasket seal and give you enough area to mount the velcro.
If you do not have 1" of flat trim you need to install
a wood subframe. Use 1"x 2" fir (actual measurements
¾" x 1 ½") on the sides and the head of
the window. The 1 ½" will give you enough room for
the frame as well as some added room to get your fingers inside
to pull the panel off.
Take a piece of the PVC frame and place on the 1" flat trim and trace a line on the outer edge. Follow this procedure for the right, left, and top. Measure from the right and the left height as well as a top and bottom width in case the windows are unsquare. If the measurements for the right and left height or the top and bottom width differ by ¼" or more include this in the measurements. Make sure that the window stop bead does not stick out past the flat trim.
Measure the opening inside the trim. Take a top and bottom measurement as well as a left and right measurements. Many windows are unsquare, If the top and bottom width or the left and right height differ by a ¼" or more include this in the measurements. For the panels mounting to a subframe, we will make the necessary deductions. You only need to provide us with the window opening size.
Thermo-Press® uses roughly the same system to convert screened porches to sun rooms for the winter. The only difference that the panels are attached with clips rather than velcro®. In the spring, the panels can be easily removed to enjoy the seasonal breezes. All this at a fraction of the cost associated with glass enclosures.
